Glasgow OAP Marion Smith has more in common with Madonna and Cindy Crawford than the average senior citizen.
At the sprightly age of 73 she works out every week with her OWN personal trainer!
Ten years after it caught on in health-conscious America,Glasgow is discovering the many benefits of one-to-one fitness training.
Work-out gurus help you achieve the body beautiful in a gym or the privacy of your own home.
And stressed-out executives get the adrenaline going BEFORE they head for the office. Retired nurse Marion works out under the watchful eye of her trainer Paul Rutherford. "I've always been an active person, but after a fitness club I was a member of closed,I started to let myself go a bit," she admitted.
"When I saw the add for a personal trainer I really liked the idea".
"You know the exercises you're given are tailored for YOUR needs- it's less intimidating for many people than walking into a gym."
She continued: "Having Paul as a personal trainer has helped me stick at the exercises and gives you that added encouragement"

FUTURE
"I've got asthma , and being fitter has helped increase my lung capacity.
I'd recommend it for anybody."
Paul (25) started Phoenix Phitness after seeing the future of keep-fit.
He said: "Marion is doing brilliantly.
A fit person can exercice for between 30 and 45 minutes and Marion is at the top end of that scale." Paul added that good trainers should be less likely to take people on if they are just concerned with crash-diets.

STARVE
"I will not accept someone who is willing to hurt or starve themselves just to get thin," he went on."I have one client who, at 12 stones, went to two step classes for 14 hours a week and lost only four pounds after several months of exercising. "A year with me and she's down to 9st 4lbs - and only gained 1lb on holiday. It's all down to the kind of exercise you do-and NOT starving. Instead change your diet to a healthy one."

INITIATIVE
He added: "Glasgow will be a much healthier place if people take Marion's initative and get fit."
